P08

Usually, during a video interview, we find some spare components to assemble a movement just for the b-rolls (mood / good-looking video shots without story content). The movement will be disassembled afterward into parts for servicing/repairs.

But this time, even just the assembly of the movement during the interview, was a process with gravity.

It was a Late Show interview. Shawn and Fish were the interviewers, and Quinn was on the other side of the table assembling our very own mechanical movement.

During the interview, Quinn talked about the numerous components laid out on the table.

  • “I designed this. This is the main plate, designed and made in Hong Kong”

  • “This is the hairspring. It is also made locally in Hong Kong”

  • “All these components are assembled here locally, and we adjust and test them”

It was a magical moment when the balance wheel was installed, and the movement started ticking.

No words were uttered in those few seconds, but everyone in the room smiled.

This is how the P08 came into existence. The 1st Cal. 852 assembled by Quinn under the camera, for the world to see.
