P18

One of the best things about owning a manual hand-wound watch, is the experience of winding the mechanical movement.

We can do all the research and design simulations we want to predict the best design of the crown and how it interacts with the movement and the watch case… but at the end of the day, our prototype would just either feel right, or in the case of our initial prototypes, a little bit off.

With our original design, we really liked how the watch looked, but we felt like the winding part was… a bit like a necessity. But we want it to be an enjoyable experience.

So, we will be throwing away the 1st batch of crowns we made. We went back to the drawing board, and completely re-designed the crown. We found the best balance of how far the crown is from the case, and the size of the crown. We even optimized on the shape.

I’m happy to report that now i want to wind the watch more than I need to.

And P18, is our first prototype with this beautiful winding experience.
